3 am Syndrome

Isn't Google wonderful! For me , the days of searching in a reference book for answers  to queries are over and now the computer answers my questions not only with one choice but many .
I was telling a friend about how I often wake in the night, look at the clock ,only to see it is 3 am.and she said she had the same experience which got me to thinking, could there be such a thing as 3am. Syndrome.Guess what,Goggle tells me there is!!!!!

My old girl Molly

Molly is our 13year old kelpie and she makes me laugh and cry.
Molly has had a rough time of things and knows vet clinics very well, she has been on life support three times after eating snail bait , rat bait and having a paralysis tick.
She is now very arthritic , sleeps a lot and not very tolerant of  much.
The rattle of her feed tin or any food actually sees her very sprightly and also the quad bike and the crack of the stock whip sees some movement but not much else.
Sleeping behind vehicles or in the middle of the road seems to make sense to her so everyone has to be on the watch, deafness also adds to the challenge of avoiding running her over!
We monitor her closely now and will make sure her last days are comfortable.

Violence in sport

Violence in sport
I am sure everyone who watched State of Origin on Wednesday night has an opinion on the sending off  of four players after a punch was thrown. The general feedback from the media (ex footy players mainly) is the new rule of sin binning a player for throwing a punch is making  the game a game for sissy's! One retired legend of the game said he believed the game could be played without the thuggery and still be played hard and be a great spectacle.
I don't know how many saw the 60minutes story on the link between dementia and head trauma but it was conclusive in its findings
taken across a wide section of football players(current and retired) that the two were linked.
The banning of the king hit or punching will not stop all head trauma as whiplash will occur in tackling and hitting the ground but every little bit helps.
As a grandmother with children playing contact sports I am happy to see any improvement in the safety aspect of sport ,it has been reported that the incidents of violence in junior club football always escalates after a high profile match .
Maybe I am mistaken in believing the young players watch their hero's very closely and try to emulate their behavior. From what I see the is nothing sissy about playing any footy even without the violence!
Just my opinion!

Innocent Young Minds

We had a visit fromn friends on the weekend and they had their 3 year old daughter with them.We were discussing a mutual friend who had had a stroke and I was saying how my brother had a stroke when he was fifty and how the paralysis in his face had made him spill his drinks on his shirt, this is where the 3 year old joined in and the conversation went like this
Her first question
Did he have to change his shirt
reply "yes
did he put his shirt in the washing machine
reply "yes"
then one one breath she said "can he still play and my skirt is pink you know!"
so beautifully innocent

Acceptance

The Collins dictionary definition of acceptance is
1. If you accept a situation you realize it cannot be changed
2.If you accept a situation you believe it to be true
3.if you accept something you allow it to happen
If this is applied to your everyday life you would assume it to be clear cut but life is not that simple.Does this mean that we should just accept that we stay in a job that we hate because it cannot be changed mainly beacuse it is difficult ,accept the fact that we would like to loose weight but it cannot be changed because this is how my mother was, allow people to talk to you in a demeaning manner because, I tend to believe what they say.You have to have the courage and strength to at least try to change your situation  ,you most likely will stumble but you need to pick yourself up and try again until you believe you have exhausted every avenue.
We are all responsible for our path in life and most times that path is littered with obstacles, you know the saying"life was not meant to be easy " to me  no truer words were ever spoken. Some things are out of our control but a lot are not and there is no more satisfying feeling than righting a wrong or taking on a challenge and winning.I have members of my family that have had obstacles one would imagine are  impossible to conquer but they have taken on the challenge because they were not prepared to just ACCEPT!
Believe you have the strength to accept the things that you cannot change ,the courage to change the things you can and the wisdom to know the difference.

Mother Nature

Picture this
Fencing this morning on our property in Qld.The most beautiful winter's day and I took time out and sat on the bank in the paddock.
The sounds of a gentle breeze in long grass,a little waterfall in the gully, foals frollicking with older weanlings ,cattle munching on a new green pick next to me,the bull having his way with a heifer, and the sounds of many birds-bliss!
Why don't we take time to smell the roses and to witness mother nature at her best ?
